Japan is renown for its beautiful mountains and breath taking views, so it would make perfect sense to take in Japan's scenery from the top of the highest peaks. Thousands of tourists flock to the ski slopes of Japan each Winter, hoping to take advantage of the country's crisp white snow.

To make the planning of your trip a little less stressful, we've come up with a list showcasing the best ski resorts Japan has on offer!


1. Niseko Ski Resort

Niseko is one of the largest and most popular ski resorts in Hokkaido. The resort is well known for its powder skiing and receives an average of 15 meters of snow each year!


2. Furano Ski Resort

Furano Ski Resort is situated just 1km from the town centre - so everything is within walking distance! It's the closest resort to supply stores and receives approximately 9 meters of snowfall each year. 


3. Shiga Kogen Ski Resort

Shiga Kogen Ski Resort is considered to be Japan's highest and largest ski area. Its snow season lasts from mid-November to early May, which is one of the longest snow seasons in Japan.  A highlight for this resort is that it's only 15km from the famous pink-faced monkey park. Guests can watch these monkeys take a relaxing bath in natural hot springs!


4. Zao Onsen Ski Resort

The Zeo Onsen Ski Resort is one of the more traditional and older styled resorts, with guests able to stay in traditional Japanese inns. The resort has kept its original slopes and is less crowded with tourists - making it perfect if you're just starting out or want to avoid the crowds.
